Review of Baby Doll by Hollie Overton

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I did not and do not accept compensation for reviews. These are my original words and thoughts.

For fans of Gone Girl and Girl on the TrainBaby Doll is the most tense thriller you will read this year.

Held captive for eight years, Lily has grown from a teenager to an adult in a small basement prison. Her daughter Sky has been a captive her whole life. But one day their captor leaves the deadbolt unlocked.

This is what happens next...

...to her twin sister, to her mother, to her daughter...and to her captor.

My Review:
5 Stars

This book is a dark read. If you don't like this kind of story then please choose another. The story is just too good to be marred.

Lily has been through a large amount of trauma in her life. Yet she only has eyes for what's best for her daughter. When she sees a chance to escape the torture she would have to endure she takes it, no matter the consequences.

The story that ensues gives you an inside look at what not only the survivors have to deal with, but what Lily has to endure as well. It's not an easy road trying to reclaim the life that was taken from her. She has to realize that people have moved on and that things are not as they were eight years ago.

A beautifully dark story.
